The "x86" in the above is because of using a Vista 64 operating system. Office Web Components (OWC) require restricting to x86. You need to do this for each new OWC program on a 64-bit PC, as follows: Select "Build", "Configuration Manager". Then, under "Active solution configuration" select "Release". Under "Active solution platform", select "" instead of "Any CPU". In the pop-up under "Type of select the new platform", select "x86". Leave "Copy settings from" as "Any CPU". Leave "Create new project platforms" checked. Click "OK" on the popup, and "Close" on the Configuration Manager form.The reason for having to do this is that programs containing OWC will not run as 64-bit programs, because Microsoft does not allow 64-bit programs to call 32-bit Active-X controls, which OWC are. This procedure has to be done for each new program on a 32-bit machine. If you are running OWC on a 32-bit machine, the folders containing the "BUILD" files you need to delete will be slightly different -- without the x86 -- but the idea is the same: delete everything in the "bin" and "obj" folders that you can, and this is like what "CLEAN" does.Finally, the program still does not know where to find the Active-X controls for the OWC chart and spreadsheet. Instruct it where they are as follows:If the OWC controls are not already in the toolbox, go to "Tools", "Choose Toolbox Items", "COM components", and check "Microsoft Office Chart 11.0" and "Microsoft Office Spreadsheet 11.0" -- and any other OWC controls you want. Click "OK".In your project, create a new temporary form with "Project", "Add Windows Form". Slide either the spreadsheet or the chart control from the toolbox to the new temporary form.That's all that is needed of the new temporary form. You can delete it by highlighting it in the Solution Explorer window, right-click, "Delete".Finally, "Save All". Rebuild with either "Debug", "Start Debugging" or "Build".
